Encrypted Proxy VPN

Fernet-encrypted TCP relay and local HTTP proxy routing a remote device through a home machine.

RELAY PORT 8080
LOCAL PROXY PORT 8888

A working, minimal VPN: a threaded TCP relay on a home machine, a local HTTP proxy on the remote device, and Fernet symmetric encryption on the wire between them. Plus a browser-side detector page that measures whether traffic is actually going through the tunnel.

How it works

  • Server binds a TCP socket with SO_REUSEADDR and spawns a daemon thread per connection.
  • Payloads are encrypted with Fernet (symmetric authenticated encryption) from the cryptography library.
  • Client runs a local HTTP proxy that forwards requests over the encrypted relay.
  • Includes a browser detector page that measures latency and connection routing.
  • No third-party dependency manifest — dependencies are declared in module docstrings.
